Happy Birthday Search Guard: Five Years Old and Still Going Strong!
By Claudia Kressin
Happy Birthday Search Guard! Let's take a quick look back at the last year, share what we've been up to lately, let you know what's coming, and perhaps even squeeze in a piece of cake.

It's Been a Year

The last year has been surprising, eventful, and full of life lessons for us all. There's been a lot going on, professionally and personally, and of course, we are all in the midst of a global pandemic. Nevertheless, we can say in true Floragunn fashion: We're still here, making lemonade out of those lemons that ended up on our doorstep.

Search Guard New Release

In case you missed the latest update, Search Guard 51 for Elasticsearch 7.13.0, 7.13.1 and 7.13.2 is ready! Get it here.

Props to The Community

Amazon recently announced the introduction of OpenSearch, a true Open Source fork of Elasticsearch and Kibana, which is entirely community-driven. The complete codebase is released under the Apache 2.0 license. Floragunn fully supports OpenSearch, and we are happy to contribute our year-long experience regarding security and alerting in the Elasticsearch ecosystem to OpenSearch. As a Search Guard user, you will have the option to run either the Elastic Stack or OpenSearch. Read more here.

Remote Remote

Long before the pandemic, our team was passionate about work and travel, and the remote-first mindset is deeply embedded in our team. Employees can work from anywhere in the world, in busy cities or deep in the forest, anywhere with an internet connection once in a while to check in. The magic mix for us? Trust, organisation, and open communication.

Time For The Toast!

Our team has been working with Elastic products for a long time; we were there at the very beginning with Lucene even before we had our own plugin. Who would have thought we would end up here celebrating five years of Search Guard.
We are very aware that we didn't get here on our own. We want to say a big thank you to each and every one of you! Our users, our customers, our partners, our team, and the community as a whole. Thank you for being a part of our story, have a drink on us!
