As we step into 2024, it's time to reflect on the dynamic landscape of Search Guard throughout 2023. The archiving of Open Distro for Elasticsearch (ODFE) and Search Guard's triumphant seven-year anniversary are just two of the topics we would like to mention. Additionally, the company enriched the community with informative blog series. Let's delve into the key highlights that defined Search Guard's journey in 2023.

Farewell to ODFE

A pivotal moment in 2023 was the archival of Open Distro for Elasticsearch (ODFE). As many Elasticsearch users transitioned to ODFE when Elasticsearch adopted a proprietary license model, this move prompted users to revisit their security solutions. Search Guard provided insights and options for those affected by ODFE's archival, emphasizing the importance of updating security measures for continued support.

Search Guard Releases

It just wouldn't make sense to summarise the year and not include the latest Search Guard and Search Guard FLX releases.
We have just released Search Guard FLX and Search Guard classic for ES 7.17.16. Last week came Search Guard FLX 1.4.0 and Search Guard 53.8, which contains a critical security fix for Multitenancy. If you do not use the Multitenancy feature, you are not affected. If you do, we strongly recommend to upgrade.
